Description: | A copper-alloy trade weight, most likely from the time of James I, 1603-25, due to the presence of a crowned I. This weight is circular in shape and measures 25.6mm in diameter. The front face has an inverted ewer at 12 O'clock, and a crowned initial I and a sword are close to each other at 6 O'clock. It is the location of these marks which identifies the crowned I as James I rather than James II (Biggs 1992, 50-51). | Source: | Portable Antiquities | Creator: | Minter, Faye - Portable Antiquities Scheme | Identifier: | http://www.findsdatabase.org.uk/hms/pas_... | Language: | en-GB | Go to resource |
