Description: | Copper alloy annular brooch with inscription and gilding. The frame is rectangular in section with flat faces front and back. On the face is the inscription + . AMOR VINCIT OMA (for AMOR VINCIT OMNIA - "Love conquers all"). The C of vincit is closed and resembles a backwards D and the letters NI are missing from the OMNIA. The frame is constricted before the start of the inscription for the attachment of the pin but there is no corresponding rest for the other end of the pin. The pin has a D section and is hooked around the frame. There is a transverse ridge at its proximal end and and it tapers to a point at the distal end. There are traces of gilding on all surfaces of the frame and pin, but particularly flanking the pin constriction. The back of the frame is undecorated. Similar to No. 1429 in Hattatt, 2000, p. 383, fig. 242 and No. 1337 in Egan & Pritchard, 1991, pp. 254-255, fig. 164.
