Description: | Early Medieval cast copper alloy strap end. The split end is triangular with a worn break cutting across the two circular rivet holes. The upper surface of the strap end has three transverse grooves just below the triangular attachment end, and a further three grooved just above the rectangular terminal. The surface is worn, and these grooves are just visible. The reverse of the strap end is plain and undecorated. It is rectangular in cross section and in profile. The surface is worn, particularly at both terminals, and it has a mid-green patina. It is 33.29mm long, a maximum width of 8.55mm, a minimum width of 4.36mm and is 2.77mm thick. | Source: | Portable Antiquities | Creator: | McLean, Laura - Portable Antiquities Scheme | Identifier: | http://www.findsdatabase.org.uk/hms/pas_... | Language: | en-GB | Go to resource |
