Description: | A copper alloy trade token, possibly from a local company.
The obverse is worn and pitted, but two indistinct scrolled letters can just be seen, they are back to back and inside a wreath border. A crude stamp reading [1]674 can still be seen at the 3 O?? clock position.
The reverse is also worn and pitted and the design is also indistinct, it could be an eagle or griffin with out-stretched wings. A worn raised border, with some lettering on it is visible, but the letters are illegible. A capital letter E can be seen in the 8 O?? clock position.
If the obverse letters were legible the company name/initial may have been worked out. | Source: | Portable Antiquities | Creator: | Andrews-Wilson, Liz - Portable Antiquities Scheme | Identifier: | http://www.findsdatabase.org.uk/hms/pas_... | Language: | en-GB | Go to resource |
