Description: | Medeival cast copper alloy composite strap end. The strap end is rectangular in plan, before tapering in thickness at the terminal. The attachment end is incomplete, and the opposing end is comprised of a projecting knop on either side, narrowing into a neck before expanding out into a large sub-rectangular terminal. The upper surface of the terminal is decorated with two transverse grooves with four lines radiateing out below. It has a mid-green patina and the surface is slightly worn. It is 41.68mm long, 9.84mm wide, 3.41mm thick and weighs 4.2 grams. The strap end is similar to Egan & Pritchard (1991) page 147 no 703. | Source: | Portable Antiquities | Creator: | McLean, Laura - Portable Antiquities Scheme | Identifier: | http://www.findsdatabase.org.uk/hms/pas_... | Language: | en-GB | Go to resource |
