Description: | A post medieval French coin; a silver 15 sol piece of Louis XVI.
The 15 sol denomination seems only to have been minted under Louis XVI in 1791 ?? 1793, in the years immediately before France became a republic.
The obverse legend should read ??LOUIS XVI ROI ?? DES FRANCOIS?? and the date, round a bust of Louis XVI facing left, and on the reverse, ??15 SOL?? across the field with the legend ??REGNE DE LA LOI?? above and ??L??AN DE LA LIBERTE?? on two lines beneath (meaning ??the rule of the law?? and ??the year of Liberty??.
