Description: | 2005 T247
"A medieval silver finger-ring. The hoop is of D-shaped section, and is engraved with an inscription, now worn and difficult to decipher. The ring probably dates to the 15th century.
X-ray fluorescence analysis of the surface of the ring indicated a silver content of approximately 97%. The ring weighs 6.14 g.
Maximum diameter: 25mm.
Width of hoop: 4.5mm.
The find therefore qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996 in terms of both age and precious metal content and should go forward to inquest.
