Description: | Post medieval French coin; struck copper alloy 2 sols coin of Louis XVI, from the early revolutionary period (c.1789-1793). The coin has been heavily doctored, seeming to have had the complete inscription ring on the reverse of the coin filed off and then to have been silvered. The coin therefore now has a champhered cross-section and file marks can be seen on the slope of the removed section. Very worn.
