Description: | Waiting for the train on Byfield station, looking west towards Stratford-upon-Avon. Byfield was on the East & West Junction Railway running from Towcester to Stratford. In 1910 it merged with the Northampton & Banbury Railway to form the Stratford-upon-Avon & Midland Junction. For small towns like Byfield, the coming of the railways in the 19th century opened up other parts of the country to most people for the first time. | Subjects: | Transport (Rail) Railway Station | Source: | English Heritage - Viewfinder | Creator: | Newton, S W A | Identifier: | http://viewfinder.english-heritage.org.u... | Language: | en | Go to resource |
