Description: | George VI came to the throne on 11th December 1936 following the crisis of the abdication of his brother, Edward VIII. He reigned until his death on 6th February 1952, when he was succeeded by the present Queen. George VI was crowned on what would have been his brother?s Coronation day, 12th May 1937, the first Coronation of a British monarch to be filmed.
