Description: | This booklet gives samples of Blackout wallpaper. The papers are double-sided, printed with light designs one side and lined with black paper on the back. They were for householders to help them adapt their homes to comply with the enforced Blackout of buildings and streets during the Second World War.
The Blackout was intended to hinder enemy bomber planes from identifying targets. Strict enforcement of Blackout regulations by local air-raid wardens was unpopular with some sections of the public. | License: | http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/2.5/ | Publisher: | Museum of London | Rights holder: | Museum of London | Subjects: | London at War Art and Design Home and Family | Temporal: | 1939-1945 | Source: | Museum of London | Identifier: | http://www.20thcenturylondon.org.uk/rser... | Go to resource |
