Description: | This bamboo rice steamer was used in the Golden Harvest restaurant in Lisle Street, Soho, at the heart of London's Chinatown. This speciality seafood restaurant combines Cantonese cuisine with a Vietnamese influence.
The first Chinatown in London was in the Limehouse area of east London where Chinese sailors arriving at the docks settled. The area was heavily bombed during World War II, and the Chinese community moved towards the West End and Gerrard Street, where two or three Chinese restaurants already existed.
