Description: Centre panel of a triptych, on a sunk panel with plain narrow borders. Ivory.
Under a pierced canopy supported on two slender columns, Christ is crucified between the Virgin and St John. At the foot of the cross is the skull of Adam - a reference to the tradition that the cross was on the site of his grave. [Honorius: De Imagine Mundi, iii Patri.
