Christ seated on a throne, blessing and holding an open book, is surrounded by an oval laurel wreath and a raised band of ornament. In the spandrels are the symbols of the Evangelists, except top left corner where St Matthew himself is seen writing in a book on a desk. The ground is gilt, probably modern. | Format: | text/html | License: | http://www.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/terms.htm | Publisher: | The Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, UK | Rights holder: | The Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, UK | Subjects: | sculpture Unknown plaque | Temporal: | name=9th Century; start=800; end=900 | Source: | Fitzwilliam Museum | Creator: | The Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, UK | Identifier: | http://www.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/opacdire... | Language: | en-GB | Format: | text/html | Go to resource |
