Description: White salt-glazed stoneware, with brown slip eyes on the figures. A lady (on the viewer's right) and a gentleman are seated with their arms around each other under an arbour formed of separately moulded vine leaves. The gentleman has raised her skirt to reveal her right lower leg, and the lady places her hand on his as if to prevent further advances - or perhaps to encourage them? | Format: | text/html | License: | http://www.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/terms.htm | Publisher: | The Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, UK | Rights holder: | The Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, UK | Subjects: | Unknown stoneware figure group | Temporal: | name=mid 18th Century; start=1755; end=1755 | Source: | Fitzwilliam Museum | Creator: | The Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, UK | Identifier: | http://www.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/opacdire... | Language: | en-GB | Format: | text/html | Go to resource |
