Title: Southampton [Go to resource]
Description: We are looking across the River Test from a point near the present-day Southampton railway station. The Town Walls, with Arundel Tower on the north, lead on to the quays, The spire of St Michael's Church and the Castle appear above the walls. It is low tide, with two boats beached and children perhaps digging for fishing bait. The caption says the print is for the Port Folio, and is published 1 December 1823.
