Description: New Supper Biscuits are described as being 'highly recommended to the Public for general use [. T]hey are a plain soft eating Biscuit of a flaky character and very digestible'. Such unassuming prose makes a welcome contrast with the frantic and insistent language of modern advertisements! The leaflet also reminds the reader that the biscuits 'may be had of all leading Grocers and Italian Warehousemen'. Many Huntley & Palmers advertisements from the late nineteenth century refer to 'Italian warehousemen', a species of retailer which, like the style of language used here, has also ceased to exist in modern times.
