Description: | This is one of a pair of caddy shaped tins probably made in the 1950s. The other - 'Guernsey Tea caddy' - shows scenes from Guernsey on the lid and two sides. Despite the centuries old sovereignty of the English Crown over the Channel Islands, Jersey is not represented at Westminster but has its own government - the States of Jersey - elected from the residents of the Island. The States Assembly looks to the United Kingdom to represent the Island in foreign affairs, but retains total autonomy on domestic matters, including fiscal affairs and taxation. The scenes shown on this tin are the most famous vistas on the island. | Format: | image/jpeg | License: | http://www.sopse.org.uk/ixbin/hixclient.exe?a=query&p=gateway&f=generic_sitetext%2ehtm&_IXFIRST_=1&_IXMAXHITS_=1&cms_con_core_subtype%3acms_con_text_what=copyright&%3acms_sys_group=%22sopse%22 | Publisher: | Huntley & Palmers | Rights holder: | Reading Borough Council (Reading Museum Service) | Subjects: | plant building natural science cliff agriculture lighthouse sea cow seascape landscape heraldry non-representational bird environment tree castle crest vegetable flower animal | Temporal: | start=1950-01-01; end=1950-12-31; | Source: | Sense of place SE | Creator: | Huntley, Boorne & Stevens | Identifier: | http://www.sopse.org.uk/ixbin/hixclient.... | Language: | en-GB | Format: | image/jpeg | Go to resource |
