Title: Easter Cakes, probably 1930s [Go to resource]
Description: This is an early example of a paper covered tin. Traditionally 'Simnel Cakes' were made and eaten at Easter. They were sweet and had an almond paste on their top. Their name is derived from the fine flour (Latin "simila") they were made of. Perhaps these 'Easter Cakes' used similar ingredients, although the tin is quite small so they must have resembled biscuits in size.
