Title: West Street, Fareham, about 1904 [Go to resource]
Description: Towards the railway station, West Street remained residential and tree lined. There was here a handsome terrace of houses with railed gardens which were occupied by so many naval officers or retired officers and their families that it became known as Admirals Row. During the 1930's the ground floors of some of these houses became shops but the upper floors still retained their old character. The spire in the distance belongs to Holy Trinity Church.
