Description: | Blackbrook Place was built about 1782 of Beaulieu brick which was soon covered with creepers. It had extensive views and was surrounded by fine trees and flower beds. The interior included a magnificent library with a marble mantelpiece plus twenty bedrooms. The house was extended in 1890. Among the owners were Sir William and Lady Kathleen Parker and later their son Sir William L Parker. The Parkers often loaned the grounds for charity fetes and events. The estate stretched from the Avenue as far as Gudge Heath Lane. It later became a maternity home.
