Description: | A little over a century ago Hill Head consisted of a few large estates, a hotel, some cottages and farms and a few fishermen's sheds.
The village has grown considerably since the early 20th century and now has become a residential area virtually joined with neighbouring Stubbington. It began to grow in the 1920's with an increase in both houses and shops. The grocer and confectioner Harry Watford began trading about 1924. He also later ran the Post Office. There was also a chemist, a newsagent and an art studio. Today it still has only a handful of shops including a supermarket and Post Office, a newsagents, cycle shop and takeaway. There is also a pub, the Osborne View Hotel.
Hill Head is still however a traditional quiet seaside resort complete with beach huts.
