Title: West Street, Fareham, 1954 [Go to resource]
Description: By the 1930's, the centre of West Street was used for car parking and this continued into the 1950's. Shops on the south side of the street are Tresmonds, the hairstylist, one of the lady hairdressers being Dickie Bird, the Crown and the Bugle on the corner of Quay Street. On the north side are Stead and Simpsons, the shoe shop, Lloyds Bank and the Home and Colonial Stores. Other well remembered shops include Weston Hart which sold records and Keasts for toys.
