Description: After the new road to Fareham was opened in 1872, the tollhouse was transferred from North Hill to the lower end of Old Turnpike on the Wickham Road. The toll house stood on the site now occupied by the Turnpike garage. It was looked after by the Matthews family who also sold refreshments there. The hill to the left is Old Turnpike. References: 1.
