Title: Name the Villages booklet, 1971 [Go to resource]
Description: In 1970 Huntley & Palmers increased sales of Butter Osbornes by over 250% through a sales competition. Such was the success of this promotion that in 1971 they decided to run another competition. Customers were asked to name the village most suitable for a new Butter Osborne factory, with a first prize of £1,000. To promote the competition 'personality girls' would travel around Britain driving promotional cars and visiting supermarkets with competition displays. Five million promotional packs were issued and there was also a TV advertising campaign.
