Description: | This is the jawbone of an average sized boar, or male pig. It's probably a wild one, and the large holes in the sides of the bone may have been made when it was killed. The teeth that are missing were lost in life, as there are signs of new growth where the bone has got a spongy look. Eventually the empty tooth sockets might have been filled in with new bone. | License: | http://www.imagine.org.uk/about/copyright/ | Rights holder: | Tyne & Wear Museums | Subjects: | beyond the North East animals natural world | Source: | Tyne and Wear Imagine | Identifier: | http://www.imagine.org.uk/details/index.... | Go to resource |
