Description: | This picture probably shows the Loch Aber hills in Scotland. Patrick Nasmyth originated in Scotland, though he spent most of his career in London. He was a deaf artist, who lost his hearing early in life as the result of illness. This view is painted in his characteristic style, which was modelled on Dutch 17th century paintings. The picture includes many of Nasymth's favourite features. These include the old, bent trees, an overgrown stream, and an old sign on a roughly made pole. | License: | http://www.imagine.org.uk/about/copyright/ | Rights holder: | Tyne & Wear Museums | Subjects: | beyond the North East views | Source: | Tyne and Wear Imagine | Identifier: | http://www.imagine.org.uk/details/index.... | Go to resource |
