Description: | This is Lord Collingwood's night telescope. It has a large front lens to let in as much light as possible. Cuthbert Collingwood was born in Newcastle in 1748 and went to sea at the age of 13. He played an important role at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. By this time he was a Vice-Admiral and commanded 'HMS Royal Sovereign'.
