St. Anne's Cathedral on the right, built between 1902-1904. The church had previously been on the site fronting the Headrow and had been demolished for road widening in 1904, when the new Cathedral was ready. In this view the still empty site has Sheldons advertising boards with posters for Empire, Grand and Theatre Royal, Hyde Park cinema. A temporary building was called the Lord Mayors Hut. Here it is being used by the Y.M.C.A, was also utilized as an unemployment office.
