Description: | October 1978
When Queen Victoria visited Leeds to open the Town Hall in 1858, a statue of Her Royal Highness was commissioned by Peter Fairbairn to commemorate the event. After the death of her husband, Prince Albert, the statue shown in this view was built as a memorial to the Prince Consort and a companion statue to that of the Queen. Both were built by Matthew Noble of Carrard marble. | License: | http://www.leodis.net/article.aspx?id=12 | Rights holder: | Leeds Central Library | Subjects: | Prince Albert Statue Town Hall | Source: | Leodis - A photographic archive of Leeds | Identifier: | http://www.leodis.net/display.aspx?id=20... | Go to resource |
