Description: | Undated. A commercial postcard from early Edwardian times of Scatcherd Hill, Queen Street, taken from the grounds of Morley Hall, perhaps while still the residence of Oliver and Alice Cliff Scatcherd. Some snow shovelling looks to have taken place on the pavement but in spite of the hill there has been little movement there. Neither Scatcherd Park nor the Scarth Gardens have been laid out yet while Morley House is hidden behind the large elm tree at the right hand side. This elm tree is probably the sole survivor by this time of a cluster of them that gave rise to a bird colony right at the top of the trees known as The Rookery. Notices still exist in the Scatcherd collection (in Morley Library) stating that boys disturbing these birds are threatened with prosecution by Norrisson Scatcherd.
