Description: | A south-east view of St Mary's Church in the village of Salford (Saltford) in Somerset, near the lower Bristol road. In this small parish church the west tower is low and although it has a pointed roof it has no spire. Nikolaus Pevsner notes that although the west tower seems to date from the 17th century it is perhaps converted from an earlier Norman one. To the west of the church stands the oldest inhabited house in Somerset, a two storey Norman manor house with a 17th century front. | License: | http://www.bl.uk/services/copy/permission.html | Rights holder: | British Library | Source: | Collect Britain | Creator: | Grimm, Samuel Hieronymus | Identifier: | http://www.collectbritain.co.uk/personal... | Language: | en-GB | Go to resource |
