Description: | Statue of English soldier and statesman Oliver Cromwell (1599-1658) in the grounds of the Crystal Palace exhibition hall at Sydenham. Designed by architect Joseph Paxton for the first universal fair held in Hyde Park in 1851, Crystal Palace was dismantled after the exhibition closed and then reconstructed in south-east London.
