Description: | In the 1800s fresh food was bought from specialised shops such as butchers, bakers, fishmongers, greengrocers and confectioners. Prepackaged or unperishable food was mostly bought in the grocer's store. Customers would visit the store and buy the food in the morning and the grocer would have it delivered to their home later in the afternoon.
