Description: | The rusk, advertised here, is a slice of yeast bread that has been baked until dry, crisp, and golden brown in colour. They are usually sweet and were originally developed by Spanish sailors as a cake or biscuit that would stay fresh on long journeys. They were the most common food carried by British soldiers during the war against the Boers of South Africa (1899-1902).
