Description: | The museum collection primarily consists of artefacts, photographs and documents relating to Witney and the surrounding villages and includes items from the local brewing, blanket and engineering industries together with photographs and artefacts relating to Witney buildings, Witney at war, transport, education and religion..
A small collection of about 800 items including 11 local Roman finds, 129 archives, 15 arms and armour, 198 science and industry, 406 social history and 20 transport items. There are domestic pottery and tiles from the medieval Bishops palace and Minster Lovell Manor; bobbin winder, bobbins, fleece, carders, teasels and finished blankets from the blanket industry; bottles, glasses, stoneware flagons and photographs from the brewing industry; templates, leather and photographs of glov making; building and allied trades tools belonging to Malachi Bartlett; local Witney and East Gloucestershire Railway items; and local education and World War II items. | Source: | Cornucopia - Discovering UK Collections | Address: | Witney Museum
