The social history collections aim to illustrate working domestic, and community life in Bushey. Areas covered are: Domestic life, mainly kitchen utensils and household equipment; Childhood including baby care, toys and games; Educational items including equipment such as school slates, copy books etc and collections relating to specific schools; Health, welfare and charities, including chemist's shop items and material relating to the former Bushey and District Hospital and the Reveley Trust; Local trades and industries (Cobra, Ellams, Lotts Bricks, Naturecraft, Nelsa, H T Cox & Sons, Elliotts Pianos and Quicksey Cabinets); Public utilities and services, including the Colne Valley Water Company, the local police (Metropolitan and Hertfordshire Constabulary) and Bushey Fire Brigade; Horticulture and gardening, including tools, photographs and ephemera and items relating to Bushey Horticultural Society; Local Organisations, including material relating to local churches and clubs; Shops and shopping; Material relating to the impact of the two World Wars on Bushey;The museum has an extensive photographic collection of images of people, places, events and activities in the local area, and a collection of ephemera relating to the film making company of Hubert von herkomer (c.1912-14) Also cameras and equipment.;Small collection of local archaeology, mainly stray finds, and some archaeological archives from local sites.;Small collection of British coins.;Small collection of hand tools and photographs illustrating former farming in the area.;Small collection of mounted British vertebrates, acquired mainly for educational purposes.;Bushey Museum operates a local studies centre as an integrated part of its activities. It holds copy and original archive material, magazines, journals, books by local authors and poets, and sound recordings. The museum is a recognised repository for archives of the Royal Caledonian Institution, the Old Masonians, some local schools, industries and social institutions. It also holds a large collection of material relating to the Colne Valley Water Company. ;;The museum has an extensive collection of costume representative of life in Bushey, and a colection of domestic textiles, including 19th century woolwork.
