Description: | The museum collects social history items from the late medieval period to the present day covering community, domestic, personal and working life and also material reflecting the multi-cultural nature of the Borough. Domestic items include a good range of laundry items and significant collections relating to food preparation and consumption. The collection of toys includes those from Wardleworth Post Office dating from the early to mid 20th century and also a collection of dolls. Other items relating to childhood include cradles, high chairs, prams and feeding equipment and there is also a large collection of school and education material including desks, slates, writing equipment, text and exercise books.
