Description: | The social history collections contain a wide range of domestic items including ledgers (rent books account books etc), cleaning utensils, food and drink utensils, domestic heating equipment, household furniture (mainly Victorian and Edwardian chairs and tables), soft furnishings, ornaments, house fittings and fixtures, laundry items, sanitation and lighting (candlesticks, oil lamps etc). There is also childhood material such as prams and feeding bottles and a substantial collection of toys and dolls including dolls houses. There are also books and magazines, greetings cards, general souvenirs (ornaments, crested ware), theatre/cinema posters, sport and recreation items including board and card games and material relating to hobbies and holidays.
There is a good selection of education-related material including books, certificates, medals, reports, photographs from local schools and some furniture.
