Description: | Dedicated to St. John the Baptist, this church is one of the five remaining churches in England that has a rotunda in place of a nave. It was built as late as 1335 by the Knight's Templars based on the design of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. The other similar churches are the Temple in London, and the Norman churches at Ludlow Castle, Northampton and Cambridge. | Subjects: | Sketch Religious buildings Priories Architecture Abbeys Church architecture Knights Templar | Source: | Vads | Creator: | Author/Creator: | Identifier: | http://www.vads.ac.uk/large.php?uid=3107... | Go to resource |
