Description: | Acquisition: gift from Francis William Pember, 1936 Description: Head and shoulders, facing viewer; short fair hair; high white collar, white bands, heavy black brocaded silk Chancellor's robe with gold lace trimming on collar, facings, and sleeves. Viscount Grey was elected Chancellor of the University in 1928. The portrait was painted posthumously after a photograph by Elliott & Fry (NPG x82166). 'The Acting Curator [Dr Hanbury] reported the receipt of a portrait of the late Viscount Grey of Falloden. The portrait is the gift of Dr. F.W. Pember (sometime Vice Chancellor and Warden of All Souls) and friends.'
