Description: | Male standing figure wearing ornate robes. Left foot forward, left arm flexed holding rolled up paper and also holding cloak. Right arm is straight by side with fist clenched. Standing on rock. Stepped pedestal with four flanking columns. Acanthus decoration to north and south faces. Flanking sculpted bronze figures representing Classical Learning, Finance, Eloquence and Erin (Ireland). Additional Information: W.E. Gladstone married Catherine Glynne of Hawarden Castle in 1839. He lived at the castle from that time, and on the death of the last male representative of the Glynne family in 1874, W.H.
