Description: | Full-length statue of C.S. Rolls dressed in long boots, cap, and short jacket as if preparing for flight. He is holding a model of a Wright biplane, the plane in which he was killed. Decorative bas-relief plaques depict scenes of motoring, flying and ballooning. Additional Information: Charles Stewart Rolls (1877-1910) was the third son of Lord Llangattock of The Hendre, Monmouth. He obtained a degree of Mechanics and applied science and set up a London car sales and repair firm. He joined with the engineer Frederick Henry Royce and formed the famous partnership. He also became interested in aviation and in June 1910 made his double Channel crossing.
