Description: | Bronze statue of Howard Winstone seated wearing one of his Lonsdale belts with another draped over his shoulder. Inscription plaques on front and rear of pedestal, other two sides have relief plaques depicting his home and gym. Additional Information: Howard Winstone was born in Merthyr Tydfil in 1939. He held the Welsh and British A.B.A. title and was Gold Medallist at the Empire Games in Cardiff in 1958. He turned professional in 1959. He won the British Featherweight Crown in 1961 and the European title in 1963. He became Featherweight world champion in 1968. He earned two Lonsdale belts outright.
