Description: | Anthony van Dyck (1599-1641) was Flemish and the leading pupil and asistant of Rubens before coming to England and becoming court painter to Charles I in 1632. He is most famous for his portraits, and his royal portraits set the standard for elegance in this genre. This portrait of three children is described as school of van Dyck, but van Dyck's influence on British portraiture was pervasive and this attribution is therefore very vague. The modelling is not characteristic of van Dyck and the figures appear rather flattened as a result. | Subjects: | portrait (children) | Source: | Vads | Creator: | Artist: Dyck, Anthony van (Flemish painter, 1599-1641, active in England) Æ Attributed to school of | Identifier: | http://www.vads.ac.uk/large.php?uid=8322... | Go to resource |
