Description: | Signed: yes Description: Newly reattributed to Ludolf Backhuysen, this marine painting depicts a very rough sea, under a stormy sky with dense, grey clouds. Several vessels are tossed about on the waves, and some casualties and wreckage are in the water. To the centre left, a sailing ship flying the Dutch flag, and a smaller boat is to the right, two further vessels are in the middle distance.
