Description: | This portrait of Henrietta Maria, Queen Consort of Charles I, is probably a copy of a contemporary coronation portrait. Henrietta Maria, the youngest daughter of Henry IV of France, was born at the Louvre. In 1625 she married Charles I. After the battle of Edgehill she fled to France. She and Charles never met again. After the Restoration she paid two visits to England, in 1660-1 and in 1662-5. She died in August 1669. | Subjects: | portrait (Queen Henrietta Maria) | Source: | Vads | Creator: | Artist: Unknown Æ | Identifier: | http://www.vads.ac.uk/large.php?uid=8381... | Go to resource |
