Description: | This painting is believed to be a poor nineteenth-century pastiche of the work of the Flemish painter, Anthonie Victoryns, who himself closely imitated the popular peasant scenes of Adriaen van Ostade from the 1630s. The paintings of Victoryns have also been confused with those of his contemporaries, Adriaen Brouwer and David Ryckaert, by whose works he was much influenced. | Subjects: | everyday life; figure; interior | Source: | Vads | Creator: | Artist: Victoryns, Anthoni (Flemish painter, died before 1656) Æ Attributed to manner of Previously attributed to Ostade, Adriaen van (Dutch draftsman and painter, 1610-1685) | Identifier: | http://www.vads.ac.uk/large.php?uid=8415... | Go to resource |
