Description: | Signed: yes Description: Giulia Grisi (1811-1869) was considered the leading soprano singer of her generation. Born in Milan, she moved to Paris in 1832. She made her operatic debut in Bologna in 1828 and in 1831 appeared at La Scala for the first time. She sang regularly in London from 1834, first appearing at the King's Theatre and later Albano's Royal Italian Opera House. Grisi created the role of Adalgisa (Bellini's Norma) and sang in many Bel Canto operas, dividing her time mainly between Paris and London with her partner, the tenor Giovanni Mario. Bouchot (1800-1842) was born in Paris where he studied under Richomme, Regnault and Lethière. He won the Prix de Rome in 1823.
