Description: | The painting may have been cut down from a larger composition (or indeed be a copy of a detail from a larger composition) as the Virgin's downcast eyes and crossed hands placed over her breast suggest she is adoring the Christ Child. The Italian painter Innocenzo da Imola (1485-1548) trained under Mariotta Albertinelli in Florence. His work is sometimes reminiscent of Raphael's in style and feeling, and the present painting has previously been attributed to the Florentine master. | Subjects: | figure; religion (Virgin) | Source: | Vads | Creator: | Artist: Innocenzo da Imola (Italian painter, 1485-1548) Æ Attributed to Previously attributed to after Raphael (Italian painter and draftsman, 1483-1520) | Identifier: | http://www.vads.ac.uk/large.php?uid=8566... | Go to resource |
